A Few Good Things – Vol. 2

Happy Gilmore 2

Although entirely unnecessary, I will happily sit down and watch Happy Gilmore 2.

WRC Back to Nacon

We all knew EA would ruin Codemasters, I mean, they’ve been buying up studios for thirty years, gutting them, and then wondering why the games don’t sell as well or don’t live up to the same standard when they were an independent studio. Codemasters is just the latest in a long line of used up studios, and after just one World Rally Cross game, EA has abandoned the license. I guess we won’t be getting a new Dirt game anytime soon.

Still, it’s not all bad. Nacon picked up the license once more, and while their games aren’t quite up to the very best of Codemasters, they are still very solid and enjoyable. I’m glad to see a studio who actually cares about the license snatch it back up.

Samantha Sloyan as Carrie’s Mom

I’ve honestly lost count of how many adaptations of Carrie have been made over the years, and I honestly don’t have much of an interest in seeing another, but with Mike Flanaghan behind the camera, I’ll be watching as usual. It was announced this week that Samantha Sloyan was cast as Carrie’s mother, and I honestly haven’t seen this perfect of casting in quite some time. She was incredible as Bev in Midnight Mass, and if she can channel just a part of that fundamentalist psycho behavior into this role, it’s going to be incredible.

Master and Commander in 4K

Master and Commander is finally getting a 4K release! I watched this film for the first time last year and fell in love with it. The atmosphere, the brotherhood, the sea… it’s a wonderful film that truly transports you to a different time and place.

007: First Light

I’m a huge fan of James Bond video games. I’ve played them all, and I really enjoyed EA and Activision’s work in the 2000s. Sadly, we’ve been without a Bond game for quite some time, but the makers of Hitman officially revealed the name, First Light this week. While Hitman has never been my cup of tea, I’m very excited to see how this game turns out.
