What’s In My Box?

This past weekend, I made a run to my local comic book shop to pick up my books. I thought it might be fun to share what I currently have on my pull list.

Conan The Barbarian

The comic that brought me into the comic book shop to begin with, Conan the Barbarian is a monthly series written by Jim Zub, following the adventures of everyone’s favorite barbarian. It’s fast, brutal, and a lot of fun to read. Mr. Zub is clearly a die-hard fan of Robert E. Howard, and many feel, including myself, that his work with the character is arguably the best continuation of Howard’s works.

Savage Sword of Conan

This book is released bi-monthly and is unique in its larger magazine format size, as well as black and white artwork. Each issue is a standalone story where the brutality is turned up a notch. It’s a fun diversion and something I really look forward to.

Bug Wars

Sold to me by my local comic book clerk is Conan Meets Honey I Shrunk the Kids… well, its pretty accurate. Typically, a title like Bug Wars is not something I’d pick up, but so far, I’ve really enjoyed exploring this world that mixes the real world, with an unseen war beneath our feet.

Red Sonja vs. Army of Darkness

This mini-series has been going well, however, due to the bankruptcy of Diamond and the financial struggles of Dynamite, I’ve yet to receive issue three and I’m not holding my breath on any physical copies going forward. I hope I’m wrong.

Archie Meets Jay and Silent Bob

This one shot was released last week, but my comic book shop’s copies were damaged, so I still haven’t received mine. I like to add short series and one shots that look interesting and being a huge Kevin Smith fan, I couldn’t miss out in seeing what Jay and Bob do when they encounter the world of Riverdale.

Upcoming

Event Horizon: Dark Descent

This mini-series is a prequel to the 90’s sci-fi/horror classic Event Horizon. It tells the story of what happened to the crew of the Event Horizon and it is something I’m anxious to read.

That’s it. I know, you were expecting so much more! A long time ago, I would spend $100+ a month on comics, but that is just not something I can do these days. I keep my pull list under $20, and I sometimes pick up random issues of things that interest me.

I do read more comics digitally through a variety of methods, but as far as physical copies, what you see above is what I pick up and plan to pick up in the future.
