A Few Good Things – Vol. 19

Highlander: The Game Prototype Leaks

One of my most anticipated games of all-time was the Highlander game announced back in 2006. When that issue of Game Informer was released, I was over the moon since Highlander seemed like the perfect title to make its way into a video game format. Sadly… the game was cancelled quietly and lost to history, until now. The prototype of a near complete game has leaked and someone has done a walkthrough on YouTube. It really looks like it would have been a fun game to play.

Daredevil: Born Again (Season 2)

Daredevil is back and Mayor Trump… I mean Kingpin is spinning lies, illegally snagging people off the street and making them disappear in a show that is incredible, but mirrors our real life society a bit much. I love that Matt Murdock’s suit continues to change and that the show does not shy away from some rated R violence. This was a great first episode with a great little twist at the end.

The Darkness

Back a couple decades ago, a flashy video game caught my attention titled The Darkness. It remains one of my favorite Xbox 360 experiences, and I always wanted to check out the comics that the game was based on. Recenlty, Top Cow/Image has rebooted/reimagined The Darkness (and Witchblade) and I’ve started reading the series. It’s really good and once I get a bit more time I hope to go back and replay the game and its sequel.

Sonic Racing Cross Worlds

Speaking of video games, I picked up Sonic Racing the other day. I’ve played a few races of most of the titles, but this is the first time I’ve purchased a game. I really wanted a new kart racing game and the reviews have been so solid, and I gotta admit, it’s a great racer. It took me a few races to get the hang of everything, and while it’s not Mario Kart, it’s pretty damn close. I don’t see myself picking up a Switch 2 anytime soon, so hopefully this will tide me over.

The Radio

Last week, I turned off my phone and iPad and they sat in a drawer for two days. I stopped carrying these items with me and even left them off throughout my workday. I embraced the peace and boredom, and I think I’m better for it.

I eat lunch in my car. The first day I grew a bit restless after finishing my sandwich, so I ended up cleaning out my glovebox. The second day, I turned on… the radio. I don’t think I’ve listened to the radio since before mp3s came out.

I must admit, I expected more ads. Instead, I found a decent balance of music/other content, and I found three channels that I’m enjoying. One channel is a classical station that is commercial free and features a live host at all times. It’s my new listen on the way into work and it’s my go to if the other channels that specialize in 80s/90s are both at commercial.
