About

So, I guess you probably want to know the origin of the name of this blog? I mean, it sounds like something you see on a pillow at Home Goods, albeit with a violent twist. That was my intention.

One of my favorite Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian) quotes comes from the story Queen of the Coast. In this quote Conan gives his philosophy on life, and this blog’s name was inspired by that quote.

I have known many gods. He who denies them is as blind as he who trusts them too deeply. I seek not beyond death. It may be the blackness averred by the Nemedian skeptics, or Crom’s realm of ice and cloud, or the snowy plains and vaulted halls of the Nordheimer’s Valhalla. I know not, nor do I care. Let me live deep while I live; let me know the rich juices of red meat and stinging wine on my palate, the hot embrace of white arms, the mad exultation of battle when the blue blades flame and crimson, and I am content. Let teachers and priests and philosophers brood over questions of reality and illusion. I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

-Robert E. Howard, Queen of the Black Coast (1934)

This blog is a place for me to share my thoughts and interests with the world. If you’ve read any of my previous blogs, you will know what to expect to a certain point. I’m exhausted by the internet these days and I feel like there are almost too many opinions being voiced, so you’ll find less opinions, less negativity, and more of me just sharing the things I like and love. I won’t be condemning anything, protesting, or complaining about technology. Instead, I plan to write about trying to be healthier, trying to be calmer, and my interests such as movies, comic books, and video games.
